Four More Oilers Earn All-American | Women Finish 6th

Bradenton, Fla. - The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their 2016 season with another successful day on Saturday, May 28. It was the third and final day of the NCAA Division II National Championship meet hosted at the IMG Academy.

As a team, the women combined for 35 points in the meet which was good enough to earn them a sixth place finish. It is the highest finish ever for an Oilers' women's track and field team.

On the men's side, the Oilers earned seven points, earning 34th in the event.

Findlay got their second national runner-up of the weekend when senior Maud Sanmiquel edged out the third place finisher by one one-hundredth of a second in the 400 meter hurdles. Samiquel finished the race with a time of 59.13, just five one-hundreths of a second behind her personal-best and school record from earlier this season. In her career, Sanmiquel was a national qualifier in the outdoor 400 meter hurdles three times. This year was her first all-American award in an outdoor season.

Earning a third place finish was senior Michael Bruce. He picked up another all-American award after taking 11th in the long jump on Thursday. Bruce finished third in the triple jump as he reached a distance of 52'05.25, breaking his own University of Findlay record.

Senior Lydia Guagenti continued her strong performance in Bradenton as she earned her second all-American award of the event. This honor came in the high jump where she earned fourth place with a jump that measured 5'8.00". After missing her first attempt at 5'4.50", Guagenti was successful on four straight jumps until missing three times at 5'9.25".

Junior thrower Alex DeVincentis, making her second career trip to the outdoor national championship meet, took part in the shot put on the final day of competition. She finished the event with a sixth place, all-American finish with a throw that measured 49'01.00". It was her first outdoor all-American award in shot put after earning all-American in the 2015-16 indoor season. It is her second all-American finish of this meet as she took fourth in the discus on Friday.

Junior Ben Hahler just missed out on all-American status as he finished in 13th in the shot put. He had a throw of 54'09.25".
