Former Track Athletes Compete at Olympic Trials

Three former members of the Oilers track team competed at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. this past week.

Justin Welch ('15) was a four-time national champion for the Oilers and competed in the hammer throw at the trials. The 2015 NCAA Division II Track Athlete of the Year, who made his second appearance in the Olympic Trials, took 16th with a throw of 215'10.

Derrick Vicars ('12), a two-time national champion for the Oilers, competed in the shot put. Vicars placed 21st in the event with a distance of 61'11.

Raven Clay ('12), who won a national title at Findlay as well, qualified for the semifinals in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.01. She then ran to a time of 13.23 in the semifinals to place 16th overall.
