Findlay Opens Up Indoor Season

The University of Findlay track and field teams began the 2017 Indoor season with day one of the Oiler Opener at the Malcolm Athletic Complex in Findlay, Ohio on Friday, December 9.

Men's Results

Through four events in the heptathlon, junior Trey Everett leads the way with 2993 points.  Everett earned 1st in the high jump with a NCAA provisional mark of 2.06m.  He also collected 1st in the long jump with a distance of 6.98m, 2nd in the 60 meter dash at 7.39 seconds, and 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 11.50m.

In the weight throw, sophomore Austin Combs claimed 2nd with a NCAA provisional throw of 18.62m, while senior Ben Hahler grabbed 5th while also earning NCAA provisional status with a toss of 17.19m.

Women's Results

In the hammer throw, three Oilers finished in the top five of the event.  Senior Erica King grabbed the top prize of 1st place with a NCAA provisional heave of 18.68m.  Senior Liz Streacker followed up King's performance with a 2nd place throw of 17.60m, which also is a NCAA provisional mark.  Junior Alex DeVincentis claimed 5th in the event by also tossing an NCAA provisional mark of 17.08m.

Day two of the Oiler Opener resumes on Saturday, December 10 at 9:00 a.m. with the completion of the men's heptathlon.  Field events are set to begin at 11:30 a.m. and the running events are scheduled to start at 1:20 p.m.
