Findlay Competes in Valentine Invitational

The University of Findlay track and field teams completed day two of the Valentine Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, February 11. The invitational featured athletes across all NCAA divisions. The women competed on Friday while today's competition consisted of the men's events.

Running Events

Freshman Lenell Shelby III earned 7th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.29.

In the 400 meter dash a pair of Oilers met the NCAA provisional mark. Junior George Effah placed 8th with a time of 47.54 and senior Sergi Torres crossed the finish line at the 48.12 mark to capture 11th.

The 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Effah, Shelby III, senior Derek Collins and Torres claimed 2nd with a time of 3:14.80. The time meets the NCAA provisional mark and currently ranks the team 10th in Division II competition.

Field Events

In the shot put, senior Ben Hahler claimed the top spot with a NCAA provisional heave of 17.59m. This mark currently ranks Hahler 7th in Division II competition.

Junior Trey Everett earned the silver in the long jump with a leap of 7.28m. That distance is a NCAA provisional mark and currently puts him at 13th in Division II competition. Everett also competed in the high jump and added another second place finish.  He cleared a height of 2.04m to provo in the event.

Sophomore Austin Combs competed in the weight throw and captured 2nd with a provisional mark of 19.15m.

The Oilers track and field teams return to competition on Friday, February 17th when they will host the Findlay Meet for Everyone.
