Findlay Competes at Miami Duals

The University of Findlay track and field teams traveled to Oxford, Ohio for the Miami Duals at Miami University on Saturday, April 1.

Running Events

Sophomore Jaye Williams earned 1st (10.92) and sophomore Khalil Capers (11.30) finished 7th in the 100 meter dash. In the women's portion of the event, junior Milani Glass finished in 12.34 to place 2nd.

Williams and Capers also earned top ten finishes in the 200 meter dash. Williams crossed the finish line in 21.98 for 3rd and Capers clocked in at 22.66 for 10th. On the women's side of the 200 meter dash, Glass captured another top three finish with a 3rd place finish at the 25.03 mark.

The men's 4x100 meter relay team finished 4th with a time of 42.98.

Sophomore Troy Schultz captured 6th in the 800 meter run with a mark of 2:00.23. Three Oiler women placed in the top ten of the 800 meter run. Senior Nicole Burlinson earned 4th (2:18.35), freshman Madisen Borer placed 5th (2:19.31) and freshman Jenna Shipman finished 7th (2:20.64).

Freshman Clint Recker placed 7th in the men's 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.52 and freshman Lenell Shelby III clocked in at 54.14 in the 400 meter hurdles to earn 3rd.

In the women's 400 meter dash freshman Semoy Hemmings claimed 5th after she clocked in at 57.80.

Field Events

Sophomore Austin Combs and senior Mitch Adkins earned top ten finishes in the men's hammer throw. Combs placed 4th (59.77m) and met the NCAA provisional mark and Adkins finished 10th (49.92m). Combs' mark currently places him 8th in Division II.

In the women's hammer throw three Oilers earned top five finishes. Senior Erica King placed 1st and booked her trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships with an automatic qualifying throw of 61.34m. This mark currently ranks her 2nd in the nation.

Senior Liz Streacker placed 3rd in the hammer throw and also earned a trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships with an automatic qualifying throw of 59.28m. This mark currently ranks her 3rd in Division II.

Junior Tynelle Gumbs met the NCAA provisional mark in the hammer throw and finished 4th with a heave of 57.68. This mark currently ranks her 6th in the nation.

Senior Ben Hahler placed 5th and met the NCAA provisional mark in the discus with 51.05m toss. This mark currently ranks him 8th in Division II. Hahler also earned 5th in the shot put and met the NCAA provisional mark with a heave of 17.30m. He currently sits 5th in the nation.

In the women's shot put, four Findlay athletes placed in the top ten. Junior Alex DeVincentis captured 1st with a NCAA provisional throw of 14.74m, junior Trevia Gumbs placed 4th with a NCAA provisional heave of 14.10m, sophomore Holly Averesch finished 6th with a NCAA provisional mark of 13.66m and sophomore Hannah Hahler earned 7th with a distance of 13.39m. DeVincentis is currently ranked 6th in Division II competition and Tr. Gumbs sits 13th.

In the women's discus, DeVincentis captured 2nd with a NCAA provisional throw of 48.40m, Ty. Gumbs placed 5th (44.67m), Tr. Gumbs earned 6th (42.40m) and Streacker finished 9th (40.56m). DeVincentis currently ranks 6th in the nation.

Senior Derek Spindler captured 1st with a NCAA provisional height of 4.85m and junior Michael Dolinar earned 4th with a height of 4.10m. Spindler is currently ranked 11th in Division II.

The Oilers return to action on Friday, April 7th at the Knight Open in Indianapolis, Ind.
