Oilers Travel to Knight Open & Hilltopper Relays

The University of Findlay track and field teams traveled to Marian University in Indianapolis, Ind. for the Knight Open and to Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky. for the first day of the Hilltopper Relays on Friday, April 7.

Knight Open (Results)

In the 800 meter run senior Nicole Burlinson clocked in at the 2:21.66 mark to claim 1st and freshman Aubreah Manns finished 6th with a time of 2:31.53.

Sophomore Ty Gleason earned 2nd in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:45.32. In the women's portion of the event, freshman Sidney Towalski came in at the 13:41.70 mark to claim 5th.

In the women's 1500 meter run, junior Taylor Bolinger placed 8th with a time of 4:56.33 and freshman Madisen Borer just missed finishing in the top ten, as she finished with a time of 4:58.76 for 11th.

In the 100 meter hurdles, freshman Clint Recker clocked in at 15.41 to place 4th.

In the men's 400 meter dash, freshman Kurt Grieger claimed 5th with a time of 51.22.

Sophomore Jonathan Allen took 3rd in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:24.32 and fellow sophomore Austin Guthrie claimed 10th at the 16:11.64. In the women's portion of the event Sophomore Torrie Purdy finished the run in 19:55.63 to place 5th.

Freshman Gabby Seibert placed 10th in the long jump with a distance of 4.50m (14'9.25"). Siebert also competed in the 200 meter dash and finished with a time of 27.83 to earn 8th and she claimed 10th in the high jump with a height of 1.41m (4'7.50").

Senior Ben Hahler won the men's shot put with a NCAA provisional mark of 17.18m (56'4.50"), sophomore Austin Combs earned 4th and provo'd with a distance of 16.14m (52'11.50") and freshman Javian Martin placed 8th with a throw of 14.28m (46'10.25").

Hahler also competed in the discus and earned 3rd with a NCAA provisional mark of 49.87m (163'8"), Combs placed 5th with a throw of 49.57m (150'10"), senior Mitch Adkins claimed 6th (44.55m|146'2") and senior Garrett Gardner nabbed 7th (42.12m|138'3").

In the men's hammer throw Combs claimed 2nd and met the provisional mark with a toss of 56.06m (189'9") and senior Mitch Adkins took 5th with a measurement of 47.92m (157'2").

The women's hammer throw featured more success for Findlay as three Oilers claimed the top three spots and five athletes placed in the top eleven. Senior Erica King earned 1st and met the NCAA provisional mark with a toss of 58.01m (109'4.25"). Tynelle Gumbs captured 2nd and senior Liz Streacker claimed 3rd while also provo'ing in the event with distances of 56.43m (185'2") and 54.81m (179'10.25"), respectively. Trevia Gumbs placed 8th (46.05m|151'1.25") and sophomore Hannah Hahler finished 11th (42.85m|140'7.25").

Junior Alex DeVincentis won the women's discus with a provisional throw of 48.53m (159'3") and sophomore Holly Averesch claimed 3rd with a distance of 44.32m (145'5.25")

Five Oilers finished in the top ten of the women's shot put. Leading the way was junior Tr. Gumbs, who captured 2nd with a NCAA provisional throw of 14.35m (47'1.50"). DeVincentis claimed 3rd and also provo'd with a 13.86m (45'5.75") heave. Averesch earned 6th (12.92m|42'4.75"), junior Ty. Gumbs finished 7th (12.76m|41'10.50") and senior Dawn Freeland placed 10th (11.61m|38'1.25").

Hilltopper Relay (Results)

In the men's pole vault, senior Derek Spindler earned 3rd with a height of 4.61m (15'1.50").

The track and field teams return to competition on Saturday, April 8 for the second day of the Hilltopper Relays. Field events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and running events have a 12 p.m. start time.
