Oilers Compete at All-Ohio Championships

The University of Findlay track and field teams traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio for the second day of the All-Ohio Championships. The event was divided up into two groups, Division I and Division II/NAIA, as fourteen Ohio teams competed in the meet.

In the women's shot put within the DII/NAIA group, junior Alex DeVincentis captured 1st with a NCAA provisional throw of 15.22m (49-11), junior Trevia Gumbs earned 2nd and provo'd with a heave of 14.42m (47-3.50), sophomore Holly Averesch took 3rd and also met the provisional mark at 14.02m (45-11.75) and freshman Hannah Hahler placed 4th with a measure of 12.86m (42-2.25).

In the women's discus within the DII/NAIA division, DeVincentis won gold with a provisional throw of 48.87m (160-4), junior Tynelle Gumbs grabbed silver while also meeting the provisional mark with a toss of 48.22m (158-2.25) and Tr. Gumbs provo'd with a distance of 45.48m (149-2.50) to earn bronze.

In the men's discus within the DII/NAIA segment, senior Ben Hahler placed 1st with a NCAA provisional distance of 50.02m (164-1.25), senior Mitch Adkins claimed 2nd at 44.12m (144-9) and freshman Javian Martin earned 3rd with a toss of 42.24m (138-6.75).

In men's shot put within DII/NAIA competition, Hahler collected 1st with a NCAA provisional mark of 17.33m (56'10.25), sophomore Austin Combs grabbed 2nd with a distance of 15.21m (49-10.75), and Martin earned 3rd with a toss of 14.21m (46-7.25).

Senior Derek Spindler took 1st in the pole vault in the DII/NAIA group with a height of 4.57m (14-11.75).

The women's 4x100 meter relay team featuring junior Milani Glass, freshman Semoy Hemmings, freshman Jenna Shipman and freshman Aubreah Manns earned 1st with a time of 48.01. The men's team consisting of sophomore Khalil Capers, sophomore Jaye Williams, freshman Lenell Shelby III and sophomore George Effah also placed 1st with a time of 42.10.

The men's 4x400 meter relay also claimed 1st with a time of 3:18.43. The team was made up of Effah, Shelby III, Williams and freshman Kurt Grieger.

Shelby III also competed in the 110 meter hurdles and finished 2nd in the DII/NAIA group with a time of 14.73 and freshman Clint Recker claimed 3rd after clocking in at 15.43. Shelby III brought home a 1st place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.94. In the women's 100 meter hurdles, Glass earned 1st with a NCAA provisional time of 13.91.

In the women's 400 meter dash Hemmings finished in 56.81 to earn 1st.

Capers also competed in the 100 meter dash and earned 2nd with a time of 11.30. In the men's 200 Effah finished 3rd after clocking in at 22.36.

In the women's 800 senior Nicole Burlinson clocked in at the 2:18.78 mark to place 2nd.

The Oiler men ended the meet with 155 points to earn second in the DII/NAIA group and the Oiler women tied for first place with Cedarville in the DII/NAIA group with 152.5 points.

The track and field teams are back in action on Friday, April 21 in Columbus, Ohio at the Jesse Owens Classic and in Ada, Ohio at the Polar Bear Invite.
