Track and Field Complete Penn Relays & Ashland Open

The University of Findlay track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Penn Relays and the Ashland Alumni Open on Saturday, April 29.

In the men's 1500 meter run sophomore Jonathan Allen grabbed 8th (4:05.33), sophomore Ty Gleason finished 18th (4:13.97) and sophomore Austin Guthrie took 26th (4:23.12). In the women's portion of the 1500, senior Melanie Ruich earned 8th (4:58.78) and freshman Maggie Kise placed 27th (5:34.22).

In the women's 5000 meter run freshman Madilyn Greiner finished in 19:23.42 to collect 13th.

Sophomore Zach Jellison finished the 400 meter run with a time of 51.57 to claim 15th and sophomore Sam Teston clocked in at 51.95 to finish 19th.

Freshman Clint Recker placed 28th in the 200 meter dash after registering a time of 23.95.

In the women's 800 junior Claire Crum finished 29th with a time of 2:33.50.

In the women's shot put freshman Hannah Hahler claimed 3rd and met the NCAA provisional mark with a throw of 13.60m (44-7.25) and sophomore Sabrina Bailey earned 8th with a heave of 11.90m (39-0.25). Sophomore Matthew Baker finished 27th in the men's shot put with a distance of 10.80m (35-5).

In the invite division of the women's shot put sophomore Holly Averesch earned 6th with a NCAA provisional throw of 13.71m (44-11.75). Averesch also competed in the invite division of the discus and placed 4th with a throw of 41.06m (134-8).

In the men's discus throw, senior Mitch Adkins grabbed 9th (43.73m|143-5.50), senior Garrett Gardner collected 11th (41.60m|136-5.75), freshman Javian Martin placed 13th (39.88m|130-10) and Baker took 23rd (29.45m|96-7.25). On the women's side sophomore Megan Lyons finished 12th (34.66m|113-8.5) and Bailey placed 23rd (31.67m|103-10.75).

Senior Torie Allgire collected 16th in the women's pole vault with a height of 3.36m (11-0.25) and on the men's side junior Michael Dolinar placed 18th with a height of 4.22m (13-10).

Penn Relays

Sophomore Austin Combs was the lone competitor on the final day of the Penn Relays after two days of competition. He finished 3rd in the men's hammer throw with a NCAA provisional throw of 60.08m (197-1).

The Oilers next meet will take place in Allendale, Mich. at Grand Valley State University for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Championships. The meet will start on Wednesday, May 3 and will conclude on Friday, May 5.
