Oilers Compete at GVSU

The University of Findlay track and field teams traveled to Allendale, Mich. for the Grand Valley State University 2nd to Last Chance Meet on Friday, May 12.

Junior Alex DeVincentis and sophomore Holly Averesch both met the NCAA provisional mark in the women's shot put and finished 1st and 3rd, respectively. DeVincentis's toss measured 15.24m (50-0) and currently ranks her 6th in division II competition while Averesch's heave came to a distance of 14.26m (46-9.50).

DeVincentis also captured a 2nd place finish in the discus with a NCAA automatic qualifying throw of 50.49m (165-8). This mark currently ranks her 10th in the nation. Averesch met the NCAA provisional mark with a measurement of 46.84m (153-8) to take 8th.

In the women's hammer throw senior Erica King took the top spot with a NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 59.49m (195-2) and senior Liz Streacker earned 3rd with a NCAA provisional throw of 56.75m (186-02).

Ben Hahler claimed 2nd in the men's shot put with a NCAA provisional mark of 17.38m (57-0.75). Hahler also met the provisional mark in the discus throw with a 50.30m (165-0) toss.

Sophomore Austin Combs earned 4th and met the NCAA provisional mark with a toss of 60.85m (199-8) in the hammer throw.

The Oilers next meet will be tomorrow, May 13 at the GVSU Last Chance Meet.
