Top-10 Individual Performances | #10 Trey Everett

The 2016-17 athletic year was another successful one for the Oilers, who saw a plethora of individual athletes achieve outstanding accomplishments. The UF athletic media relations staff has put together a list of the top-10 individual performances from the 2016-17 campaign and will be revealing them during the summer months.

#10 | Trey Everett | Men's Track and Field

Trey Everett, a senior on the Oilers track and field team, only competed during the indoor season to preserve eligibility next year. Despite only competing during the winter, Everett made his mark by accumulating a number of personal awards.

Everett, who earned All-American accolades in the high jump during the indoor and outdoor seasons last year, competed for the Oilers in the heptathlon during the 2016-17 indoor campaign. Although it was a new event for him at the NCAA Division II level, Everett shined and won a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) championship with a school record 5,151 points on Feb. 26 in the Malcolm Athletic Center. His mark enabled him to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship and he was later voted the GLIAC Athlete of the Meet for his performance during the championship event.

Along with earning all-region accolades in the heptathlon, Everett also earned the honor in the long jump and high jump. His leap of 6'11 in the high jump at the GLIAC Championship ended up as the seventh-best mark in NCAA Division II during the 2016-17 campaign while his mark of 23'10.75 in the long jump at the Valentine Invitational ended up as the 20th-best leap in the nation.

The Sidney, Ohio native was well on his way to earning All-American accolades in the heptathlon at the indoor championship before he stumbled and stepped off the track with one lap to go in the 1,000-meter run portion of the event. He was later disqualified from the event, but Central Missouri's Devin Cornelius presented Everett with his All-American trophy in an act of pure sportsmanship. A detailed description of the event can be seen below:
