Effah and Everett Win Athlete of the Week Honors

Findlay, Ohio - Following a pair of top performances in the weeken's Oiler Opener, Findlay athletes George Effah and Trey Everett have been named as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Track and Field Athletes of the Week on Monday, Dec. 11.

Senior George Effah took part in the 400m dash where he finished with a time of 48.49, the fastest time in G-MAC history. The time is also second-fastest in the country this season. For this race, Effah was earned the league's Track Athlete of the Week award. This is the first conference Athlete of the Week award of Effah's career.

Earning Field Athlete of the Week was last year's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) heptathlon champion, Trey Everett. Everett finished the event with a score of 5,383 points, a new school and fieldhouse record as well as a new conference record. His score is the third-best in the nation this season and automatically qualifies him for participation at the NCAA DII National Championship. Withing the heptathlon, Everett set new conference records in the high jump and long jump. In the high jump, Everett reached a height of 2.07m (6-9.5), ranking him 12th in the country this season. Everett's long jump of 7.22m (23-8.25) ranks ninth in the nation this season. This is the first Athlete of the Week award of Everett's career.
