Oilers Men Ranked Sixth

USTFCCCA Release

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's track and field team has jumped up eight spots from their preseason, no. 14 ranking and finds themselves ranked no. 6 in the first week of rankings published by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). It's the team's highest ranking since being ranked number one in the country in 2015. The ranking marks the 12th consecutive week that the Oilers men have been ranked in the indoor top 25.

Austin Combs, who was recently named G-MAC Field Athlete of the Week, helped the team jump as this past weekend he recorded the second-best throw in the country at the Tiffin Dragons Open. Combs earned an automatic qualifier for the NCAA DII Championship meet with a shot put toss of 18.20 (59-8.5). First year Oiler Dequan Lovell is also ranked in the top-ten in the shot put and currently ranks tenth with a mark of 17.36m (56-11.5). Combs and Lovell are also top-level performers in the weight throw. Combs ranks first in the country in the event while Lovell is currently sixth.

George Effah has the second fastest 400m time in the country this season, a 47.73 which he ran at the Oiler Opener back on Dec. 8, while Martin Etsey is ranked sixth in the nation in the triple jump with a mark of 15.16m (49-9).

Heptathlete Trey Everett has the third-highest score in the nation this year, a 5,407 which he put together at the Oilers Opener. That performance, which included the 17th-best long jump and 18th-best high jump marks in the country, automatically qualified Everett for the national championship meet.
