USTFCCCA Release

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's track and field team held steady at no. 6 in the second week of rankings published by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The ranking marks the 13th consecutive week that the Oilers men have been ranked in the indoor top 25.

Junior Austin Combs, who was recently named G-MAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week, owns the second-best weight throw in the nation this season. Combs' mark of 21.38 (70-01.75) from the Elite Throws competition this past weekend was a new personal best, Great Midwest record, and is an automatic qualifying throw. Combs also owns the second-best shot put throw in the nation this season, a toss of 18.20 (59-08.50) from the Tiffin Dragon Open.

Freshman Daquan Lovell is also one of the best throwers in the country and currently ranks seventh in the nation in the weight throw with his best toss of 19.64m (64-05.25) at the Oiler Opener. In shot put, Lovell is ranked 13th with a 17.36m (56-11.50).

George Effah has the fourth-fastest 400m time in the country this season, a 47.73 which he ran at the Oiler Opener back on Dec. 8, while Martin Etsey is ranked seventh in the nation in the triple jump with a mark of 15.16m (49-9).

Heptathlete Trey Everett has the fourth-highest score in the nation this year, a 5,407 which he put together at the Oilers Opener. That performance, which included the 19th-best long jump and 20th-best high jump marks in the country, automatically qualified Everett for the national championship meet.
