Austin Combs Wins National Title in Weight Throw

The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams completed the first day of the 2018 NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas on March 9.

Men

Junior Austin Combs claimed the national championship title and earned All-American status in the men's weight throw, throwing for 20.99m (68-10.50). Freshman Dequan Lovell earned fifth place in the event, throwing for 20.42m (67.00-00), also claiming All-American status.

Junior George Effah qualified for the finals tomorrow in the men's 400 meter dash by running a 47.01, the fastest time in school history. Effah now holds the four fastest times in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) history.

Senior Trey Everett finished four events of the men's heptathlon today, sitting in tenth place going into tomorrow with 2916 points. Everett took third in long jump with a distance of 7.01m (23-00.00), sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.95 (6-04.75), eleventh in the shot put, throwing for 11.73m (38-06.00), and fourteenth in the 60 meter dash, running a 7.38.

Women

5 Senior Milani Glass qualified for the final tomorrow in the women's 60 meter hurdles, running an 8.42.
