Oilers Compete at Hilltopper Relays
The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams completed the first day of the 2018 Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Kentucky on April 6.
Men
Senior Trey Everett earned second place in the men's long jump, earning a new Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) record with a distance of 7.26m (23-10.00).
In the men's shot put junior Dequan Lovell threw for 17.14m (56-03.00) to earn second place and a new conference record.
In the men's 4x400 meter relay, the Findlay men ran a 3:20.72 to earn the third best time in G-MAC history. Senior George Effah, sophomore Kurt Grieger, sophomore Gavin Stepansky, and Everett earned second place as a team.
The Oilers earned two of the top five spots in the men's triple jump. Sophomore Martin Etsey placed second by jumping for 14.85m (48-08.75) to earn the fifth best jump in league history. Junior Khalil Capers jumped for 13.45m (44-01.50) to take fifth place.
Everett took fifth place in the men's 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.07.
Women
Senior Milani Glass took first place in the women's 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.87, the seventh best in G-MAC history.
In the women's 400 meter dash sophomore Semoy Hemmings earned second place with a time of 57.40.
The Oilers had a great showing in the women's shot put. Coming in first place and earning a new league record was senior Alex DeVinentis, throwing for 14.78m (48-06.00). Junior Hannah Hahler came in second with a distance of 14.24m (46-08.75), and junior Holly Averesh came in sixth, throwing for 13.29m (43-07.25).
Sophomore Jenna Shipman took fifth in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.62m (18-05.25).
The women's 4x100 meter relay team earned fifth place. Glass, Hemmings, sophomore Aubreah Manns, and Shipman collectively ran a 49.38.
