Oilers Take 2nd at ONU
The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up the second day of competition at the Ohio Northern Polar Bear Invitational on April 21 in Ada, Ohio. The men took second place with 162 points while the women finished second with 127 points.
On the men's side, Dequan Lovell won the shot put and discus to lead the way. Lovell captured first in the shot put with a heave of 16.45 meters and took gold in the discus at 52.30m. Both met NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standards.
Khalil Capers captured first place honors in the triple jump at 12.94 meters and he added two second place finishes in the long jump (6.62m) and 100-meter dash (11.37).
Zach Jellison was first in the 200-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 22.33 and was third in the 100-meter at 11.47.
Gavin Stepansky took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.32, Daniel Agbola was first in the 800-meter run at 1:57.30 and Ty Gleason won the 5000-meter run after posting a time of 15:48.46.
Babafemi Ayeni took gold in the long jump with a leap of 6.68m while Ashton Jones took second in the triple jump (12.45m) and Javian Martin was the runner-up in the shot put (14.67m).
On the women's side, Jenna Shipman took first in the 200-meter dash with a meet record time of 25.43. She also took second in the long jump at 5.36 meters.
Hannah Hahler won the shot put with a heave of 14.46 meters and was third in the discus at 41.79 meters. Her mark in the shot put was good enough to meet the provisional standard.
Alex DeVincentis finished first in the discus at 46.92, a provisional mark, and was second in the shot put at 14.41 meters, which was also a provisional toss.
Aubreah Manns finished second in the 400-meter dash at 1:06.60, Madison Borer was second in the 800-meter run at 2:24.67, Terissa Tran was second in the triple jump at 9.41 meters and Holly Averesch secured a provisional mark in the shot put and finished third at 13.67 meters.
