Seven Athletes Earn USTFCCCA All-Region Honors
Findlay, Ohio – Seven University of Findlay athletes earned a spot on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Midwest Outdoor All-Region list that was released on Monday, May 14. Senior Alex DeVincentis, senior Milani Glass, junior Hannah Hahler, and sophomore Semoy Hemmings all earned the honor on the women's side while senior Trey Everett, senior George Effah, and sophomore Martin Etsey were named all-region on the men's side.
Alex DeVincentis, a Findlay, Ohio native, earned the award in both the shot put and discus. In shot put, she has the 12th best throw in the country this season which she achieved at the Hillsdale Last Chance Classic on May 9. That throw measured 48'10.25" while her discus throw from the Cedarville Collegiate Outdoor meet measured 160'11", the 14th-best throw in the nation. These are the sixth and seventh outdoor all-region awards of DeVincentis' decorated career at Findlay.
For the third consecutive season, Milani Glass has earned all-region in the 100m hurdles. This season, Glass' fastest time was a 13.72, .08 seconds off her personal best, which she achieved at the Hillsdale Last Chance Classic. That time is the 11th- fastest in the country this year.
Also earning a spot for her performance in shot put is Hannah Hahler. Hahler set a personal best at the G-MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 3 in the event, a throw that measured 49'5.75" good for 11th in the country. It is the first all-region award of Hahler's career at Findlay.
Semoy Hemmings has also earned her first all-region award in 2018. Her best event this season was the 400m dash where she sprinted to a personal best time of 55.09 at the G-MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. That time is the 23rd-fastest in the country this season.
On the men's side, senior Trey Everett earned a pair of awards for his work in the decathlon and the high jump. In the decathlon, Everett reached a mark of 6,980 points at the G-MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships which was a new personal best and also set a new University of Findlay record. That score is good for 12th in the nation while his high jump of 6'10.25", also at the G-MAC Championship, is the 25th-best in the country. These are the second and third outdoor all-region awards of Everett's career at the Division II level.
George Effah's best event this season was the 400m dash where his time of 47.78 was good for 44th in the country and earned him a spot on the all-region outdoor team for the first time. That run took place at the Jesse Owens Track Classic held at Ohio State University on April 20.
In the triple jump, Martin Etsey set a career-best at the G-MAC Championships with a jump that distanced 49'9". That jump is 23rd in the country this season.
