Oilers Finish Strong in Wooster
The University of Findlay track and field team had athletes compete at both the 2019 Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. as well as the Wooster Invitational in Wooster, Ohio on March 30.
Men
At the Florida Relays, junior Eldred Henry was able to hit a provisional qualifying mark in the men's discuss throw, with his throw of 7 54.80m (179-09.00).
At the Wooster Invitational, freshman Josh Steinbrunner earned first place in the men's 400 meter hurdles with his time of 57.35. Sophomore Seth Saylor finished second in the event with a time of 57.36.
In the men's pole vault, 2 freshman Ryan Stevens finished second with a vault of 4.45m (14-07.25), while freshman Nathan Bedel placed fourth with a height of 4.15m (13-07.25).
Junior Javian Martin threw for 43.64m (143-02.00) in the men's discus throw to earn third place.
In the men's 400 meter dash, 3 freshman Lane Kolb ran a 50.51 to place third.
Steinbrunner earned third place in the men's 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.30, while
Saylor placed fifth with a time of 15.95.
In the men's 200 meter dash, Kolb ran a 23.11 to finish fourth.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team finished fourth in Wooster. Saylor, freshman Thomas Vance, Steinbrunner, and junior Gavin Stepansky ran a 3:43.016 collectively.
Junior Khalil Capers jumped for 6.21m (20-04.50) in the men's long jump to finish in fifth place.
In the men's 1500 meter run, senior Jonathan Allen ran a 4:14.49 to place fifth.
Women
Junior Aubreah Manns ran a 1:00.74 in the women's 400 meter dash to earn second place, while freshman Mikaely Pean ran a 1:01.33 to take third.
In the women's 200 meter dash, Manns earned third place with a time of 27.13.
Sophomore Mia Johnson took third in the women's triple jump with a distance of 9.91m (32-06.25).
In the women's 100 meter hurdles, freshman Carlee McCluer ran a 16.29 to finish fourth.
Senior Megan Lyons placed fifth in the women's discus throw with a distance of 36.03m (118-02.00).
