Oilers Will Send 5 to National Championship

The University of Findlay men and women's outdoor track and field teams will send five individuals to the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship, which will take place on May 23-25 in Kingsville, Texas.

The group is headlined by Eldred Henry, who is the top-ranked competitor in the shot put with a mark of 20.56 meters. Henry will also compete in the discus and is ranked ninth in the event at 54.80 meters. Henry won a national title for the Oilers in the shot put during the indoor season.

Austin Combs will also compete in a pair of events for the Oilers as he qualified in both the hammer throw and shot put. Combs is seeded sixth in the hammer throw at 64.84 meters and is ranked 24th in the shot put at 17.30 meters. Combs won a national title for the Oilers in the weight throw during the indoor season and was an All-American in the hammer last year during the outdoor season.

Lenell Shelby III is another Oilers athlete that will be competing in two events as he qualified in the 400-meter and 110-meter hurdles. He is ranked seventh in the 400 at 51.80 and ranked 17th in the 110 at 14.20.

Xavier Marable will also compete for the men and is ranked 20th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.23. Marable earned All-American honors in the event during the indoor season.

On the women's side, Hannah Hahler reached the championship event in the shot put. She is seeded 13th with a mark of 15.37 meters. Hahler captured All-American honors in the event last season.
