Oilers Open Season at Tiffin

The University of Findlay men and women's indoor track and field teams completed the Tiffin Challenge on Dec. 4 in Tiffin, Ohio.

On the men's side, Sterling Mungro won the weight throw with a heave of 21.04 meters and also took third in the shot put at 16.54 meters while Xavier Marable claimed a first place finish in the 400-meter dash at 48.23 with teammate Nick Rice taking runner-up honors at 50.81.

Martin Etsey won the gold in the triple jump with a mark of 15.27 meters while Ethan Pensante claimed a first place finish in the 200-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 22.80. Issac Webb finished as the runner-up in the 200 at 23.54 while Brad Korte took fourth with a time of 24.02 in the event.

Noah Fisher claimed the top honor in the 3,000-meter run at 8:53.33 while the Oilers 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Lane Kolb, Pensante, Marable, and Rice scored a runner-up finish with a time of 3:27.29.

Gabriel Foster raced to a time of 1:57.04 in the 800-meter run to finish as the runner-up while Cameron Stine took second place in the high jump at 1.98 meters. Chris Cooper recorded a fourth place finish in the same event as Stine with a mark of 1.93.

Josh Verhoff scored a third place finish in the 60-meter dash at 6.98 while Gabe Makin took the bronze in the pole vault at 4.65 meters. Nathan Bedel added a fourth place finish in the pole vault as well with a mark of 4.65 meters.

On the women's side, the Oilers took the top three finishes in the pole vault as Morgan England won the event with a mark of 3.80 meters and was followed by Lindsey Kluesener (3.80) and Meadow Cromer (3.65).

Gabrielle Lawrence claimed top honors in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:09.28 to break a school record while Morgan Gaskins finished third in the event at 11:18.94.

Cassidy Baran won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.58 and was followed by Jenna Shipman (1:00.92) and Alexandra Jacobs (1:03.51) who took third and fourth place, respectively.

Simone Green scored a pair of runner-up finishes in the long jump (5.58m) and triple jump (11.05) while Jordan Taylor earned second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.63 and was also third in the 60-meter dash at 7.91. Rylee Sybert raced to a third place finish in the 200-meter at 26.91 and Mikaely Pean was fourth in the same event at 27.04.

Sarah De Saint Laurent-Dolais finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 10.94 meters while Alexa Fries was third in the high jump at 1.63 meters. Hayley Robinett also recorded a bronze in the 800-meter run after crossing the finish line in 2:28.18 while Maya Hamsher was fourth at 2:30.16.

The Oilers 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Ray, Pean, Baran, and Shipman recorded a bronze with a time of 4:01.55 while Kylie Ray took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.23 and Madison Myers was fourth in the long jump at 5.38 meters for the Oilers as well.
