Bio

Kirby Overton is entering her third year on the Oilers coaching staff during the 2017-18 campaign.

Overton, who served as the associate track coach at Wayne State University from 2012-15, is a former track standout at UF. As a student-athlete for the Oilers, Overton was the 2008 NCAA Division II Women's Track Athlete of the Year after capturing national titles in both the long jump and 100m hurdles, in a school record 13.29 seconds.

She was honored with a 2009 NCAA Top VIII award, which recognizes current student-athletes who have finished their collegiate careers for their athletics success, academic accomplishments, community service and leadership.

A 14-time Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion, she was a 10-time all-American, and the 2005 GLIAC Field Athlete of the Year.  Overton held or shared six school records and was a three-time Findlay female athlete of the year. She also captured honors as the 2008 Great Lakes Region and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Athlete of the Year for both the indoor and outdoor season.

Overton was inducted into the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) Division II Athlete Hall of Fame in May 2013.

She earned academic all-America honors and recognition in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.  In addition, she also received the GLIAC Commissioner's Award, which is presented to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically.

Overton was an NCAA Leadership Conference participant and was also an active member of the campus student-athlete advisory committee, Black Student Union and the Marketing Club. She also served as a resident assistant, volunteered as a note taker for handicapped students and assisted with track clinics at the university.

She earned her bachelor's degree in 2006 with a concentration in business management and marketing, while obtaining her MBA in 2008 from UF in organizational leadership and marketing.
