#22 Lakers Defeat Oilers 58-41

The University of Findlay women's basketball team lost 58-41 to #22 Grand Valley State University on Thursday, February 17 in Allendale, Michigan. The loss gives the Oilers a 15-8 record on the year with a 10-6 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers struggled to make baskets, hitting only 24.6 percent (16-of-65) of their field goal attempts in the game. They also connected on a mere 4-of-27 (14.8%) three point shots and were out-rebounded 52-30 by the Lakers, who shot 46.2 percent (24-of-52) from the floor.

Sophomore forward Kayla Brown and junior guard Laura Bardall led the team with 12 points apiece.

Brown made 5-of-15 shots from the field and recorded six rebounds and four steals while Bardall connected on 5-of-19 shots with three rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Junior guard Clare Aubry also broke into double figures, scoring ten points on 3-of-17 shooting. She also attempted 14 three pointers, tying a school record for most the most triple tries in a game.

Alex Stelfox led the Lakers with 17 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks while Briauna Taylor chipped in 14 points and 13 boards.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday when they face Ferris State University at 3 pm in Big Rapids, Michigan.
