Oilers Pound Warriors 69-42

The University of Findlay women's basketball team went on the road and defeated Wayne State University by a score of 69-42 on Saturday, January 8 in Detroit, Michigan. The win gives the Oilers a 9-3 record on the season with a 5-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers shot 49.1 percent (27-of-55) from the floor and held the Warriors to a mere 25.4 percent (16-of-63) shooting clip in the win. Findlay also hit 8-of-20 (40%) attempts from behind the three point line and out-rebounded the Warriors 42-36.

Junior guard Laura Bardall led four Findlay players in double figures with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. She also contributed six rebounds and four assists.

Sophomore forward Tai Dotson added 11 points and eight rebounds while freshman guard Saira House and junior forward Kaitlyn Nelson scored ten points apiece.

House also added six rebounds and five assists while freshman guard Kaleigh Kenny recorded nine points, hitting all three of her three point attempts in the win.

Kiara Smith led the Warriors with a game-high 17 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday, January 13 when they host Lake Erie College at 6 pm.
