Klausing, Kessler Sign With Oilers

Head coach Kate Cummings of The University of Findlay women's basketball team announced the signing of Kristin Klausing and Lacey Kessler during the early signing period on Wednesday, November 10. The two student-athletes will compete for the Oilers during the 2011-12 campaign.

"Both Kristin and Lacey are from local areas and we are excited they stayed close to home," said Cummings. "They will add speed and athleticism to our team while also bringing toughness and competiveness to the floor."

Klausing, a 5'7 guard from Delphos Jefferson High School, averaged 18.1 points per game last season as a junior. The 2008-09 District 8 Player of the Year, Klausing was a first team all-Northwest Ohio pick as a junior and was named the Northwest Conference Player of the Year last year as well.

"Kristin has great vision and the ability to get to the basket," said Cummings. "She is a lefty and can cause some problems for other teams with her ability to be a playmaker with the ball in her hands."

Kessler, a 6'0 forward from Riverdale High School, averaged 18.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.8 assists per game last season as a junior. She was named first team all-North Central Conference, first team all-District 6 and second team all-Northwest Ohio last year.

"Lacey is a well rounded player with tremendous potential," said Cummings. "She is a taller version of Kayla Brown and she can really make an impact on both sides of the floor."
