Oilers Rout Ferris State 82-67

The University of Findlay women's basketball team snapped a two-game skid with an 82-67 win over Ferris State University on Saturday, February 19 in Big Rapids, Michigan. The victory gives the Oilers a 16-8 record on the season with an 11-6 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers dug themselves a hole early in the game as the Bulldogs raced out to a 13-1 lead with 13:35 to play in the opening half. They persevered however with a 9-0 run to get back in the game, eventually settling for a four-point deficit at the break (34-30).

In the second half, junior guard Clare Aubry tied the game at 56-56 when she hit a three pointer with 8:46 showing on the clock. Findlay would then go on a 17-4 run to claim a 73-60 advantage on a lay-up by junior forward Kaitlyn Nelson at the 3:41 mark to out-distance themselves from the Bulldogs.

The Oilers, who will look to clinch their second straight GLIAC South Division title next week at home, were led by Aubry's game-high 25 points on 7-of-18 shooting. She also drilled 5-of-11 shots from behind the three point line to go along with five rebounds and four assists.

Sophomore forward Kayla Brown added 19 points and eight rebounds while junior guard Laura Bardall recorded 18 points and nine boards in the game.

Nelson also broke into double figures, scoring 15 points on the strength of a career-high 9-of-11 performance from the free throw line.

As a team, the Oilers connected on 50 percent (27-of-54) of their field goal attempts and hit 21-of-25 (84%) shots from the charity stripe.

The Bulldogs were led by Tiara Adams and Kelsey DeNovelles, who scored 17 and 15 points, respectively.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday, February 24 when they host Hillsdale College in a "Whiteout" at 8 pm in Croy Gymnasium.
