Oilers Fall Short At Ohio Dominican, Lose 62-60

The University of Findlay women's basketball team fell short at Ohio Dominican University on Saturday, February 12, losing 62-60. The loss gives the Oilers a 15-7 record on the season with a 10-5 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers found themselves down by seven points at 62-55 with 16 seconds remaining, but sophomore forward Kayla Brown hit a pair of free throw attempts and junior guard Clare Aubry drilled a three pointer to make the score 62-60 with six seconds remaining. The Oilers would then get a turnover with three seconds left, but were unable to get a shot up in time as the clock ran out.

Aubry led the way with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting while Kayla Brown added 14 points on the strength of a 10-of-10 showing from the free throw line.

Freshman guard Kaleigh Kenny recorded her first career double-double with ten points and ten rebounds, both career highs, while junior guard Laura Bardall chipped in eight points and a career-high 13 rebounds.

As a team, the Oilers shot only 34 percent (18-of-53) from the floor, but did connect on 19-of-22 (86.4%) of their shots from the free throw line. They also out-rebounded the Panthers by a 42-30 margin, but Ohio Dominican had their three point shots falling as they hit 8-of-19 (42.1%) tries from long range.

The Panthers were led by Abby Glover and Meredith Fox who each scored 14 points in the game.

The Oilers will be back in action again on February 17 when they face Grand Valley State University at 8 pm in Allendale, Michigan.
