Oilers Rally, But Fall Short Against Tusculum

The University of Findlay women's basketball fell to 2-1 on the year with a 74-64 loss to Tusculum College on Saturday, November 19 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers built a 24-12 lead during the first 11 minutes of the game, but the Pioneers went on a 18-0 run in the next six minutes and took a 34-28 lead at the break.

In the second half, Tusculum extended their lead to 15 points before the Oilers made a run of their own and came within four points at 66-62 on a lay-up by junior forward Kayla Brown at the 1:48 mark.  Findlay was unable to get any closer however as the Pioneers closed the game out on the free throw line.

The Oilers shot 43.3 percent (26-of-60) from the floor, but were out-rebounded by a 46-30 advantage.

The Pioneers grabbed 20 offensive rebounds in the game and held a 20-11 advantage on second chance points.

Brown led the Oilers with 12 points on 6-of-13 shooting.  She also tallied six rebounds and tied a career-high with five steals.

Senior guard Clare Aubry also reached double figures with ten points while sophomore guard Saira House and freshman forward Lacey Kessler contributed nine and eight points, respectively.

House also added five assists while Kessler snatched six boards.

The Pioneers were led by Kendal Baxter and April McCann, who scored 19 and 18 points, respectively.

The Oilers will hit the hardwood again on November 23 when they host Urbana University at 6 pm.
