Oilers Dominate 2nd Half, Win 59-44 Over Northwood

The University of Findlay women's basketball team captured a 59-44 victory over Northwood University on Thursday, December 1 in Croy Gymnasium to run their record to 4-1 on the season.

The Oilers, who now stand at 1-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), fell behind 44-40 at the 11:46 mark of the second half and then dominated the rest of the game.

Down by four, the Oilers closed the game on a 19-0 run in the final 11 minutes of the contest as the Oilers came up with a number of steals and forced the Timberwolves into difficult shots.

As a team, the Oilers came up with a season-high 19 steals and forced Northwood into 30 turnovers, which led to 29 points for Findlay.

Senior forward Kaitlyn Nelson led the Oilers with a season-high 16 points and six rebounds.  She hit 8-of-13 shots and also added three blocks and two steals.

Junior forward Kayla Brown continued her solid play with 15 points, seven rebounds and six steals while sophomore guard Saira House added seven points, seven assists, a career-high seven steals and six rebounds.

The Timberwolves were led by Sarah Spring's 15 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on December 8 when they travel to Hillsdale, Michigan to face Hillsdale College at 6 pm.
