Oilers Claim 65-53 Win Over Lady Miners

The University of Findlay women's basketball team registered a 65-53 victory over previously unbeaten Missouri University of Science and Technology on Thursday, December 29 in Croy Gymnasium.  The win gives the Oilers an 8-3 record on the year.

The Oilers built a 17-point lead at the break as they held a 37-20 advantage as the buzzer sounded.  Things got closer in the second half as the Lady Miners climbed to within six points, but the Oilers responded by pushing their lead back into double figures.

As a team, Findlay connected on 38.9 percent (21-of-54) of their field goal attempts and held Missouri S&T to a mere 36.5 percent (19-of-52) shooting clip.

Junior forward Kayla Brown led the team with 13 points and five rebounds while senior guard Clare Aubry contributed 12 points and three boards.

Senior forward Kaitlyn Nelson chipped in seven points, six rebounds, four blocks and three steals while sophomore guard Saira House stuffed the stat sheet with six points, four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Hailee Parks recorded ten points and 11 rebounds for Missouri S&T while Katelyn Heil contributed ten points of her own.

In the early game of the Holiday Tournament, Malone defeated Northwood by a score of 76-65 behind 24 points from Lauren Myers.

Rachel Church led the Timberwolves with 21 points, hitting 5-of-11 shots from behind the three point line.

The Oilers will host Malone tomorrow at 3 pm in the second game of the tournament.
