The University of Findlay women's basketball team came away with a 74-49 win over Malone University on Friday, December 30 at their Holiday Tournament in Croy Gymnasium.  The victory gives the Oilers a 9-3 record on the season as they head into 2012.

The Oilers built a 39-23 advantage at the break and kept the pressure on in the second half as they claimed their 17th straight win over the Pioneers.

Findlay hit 42.6 percent (26-of-61) of their shots and held Malone to a 37.2 percent (16-of-43) shooting clip.  They also out-rebounded the Pioneers by a 37-30 margin and forced Malone into 27 turnovers.

The Oilers, who registered 16 steals in the win, scored 32 points off of turnovers and held a 30-13 advantage in points off the bench.

Junior forward Kayla Brown once again led the Oilers offensive attack with a game-high 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting.  She also added a game-high nine rebounds to go along with four steals in 27 minutes of action.

Senior guard Clare Aubry also reached double figures with 14 points while sophomore guard Ashley Andrews and junior forward Tai Dotson recorded eight points apiece off the bench.

The Pioneers were led by Lauren Myers and Sydnee Penn, who scored 13 and 11 points, respectively.

The Oilers will be back in action again on January 5 when they travel to Ashland, Ohio to face 25th-ranked Ashland University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Kates Gymnasium.
