Oilers Get Caught in a Storm, Lose 70-62 to Lake Erie

The University of Findlay women's basketball team fell 70-62 against Lake Erie College on Thursday, January 26 in Croy Gymnasium.  The loss gives the Oilers a 12-6 record on the season with a 6-5 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers posted a 33-29 lead at the break, but had their troubles in the second half as they put up a mere 11 points in the first 13 minutes of the final period.

Findlay struggled with their shooting in the game, hitting only 33.3 percent (18-of-54) of their shots from the field.  Lake Erie meanwhile connected on 44.4 percent (24-of-54) of their field goal attempts and drained 12-of-26 (46.2%) shots from three point range.

Senior guard Clare Aubry led the Oilers with 18 points on 6-of-15 shooting. 

Junior forward Kayla Brown also reached double figures with 11 points on the strength of an 8-of-8 showing from the free throw line.

The Storm received 20 points and six three pointers from Britt Busson.

Cate Cianchetti added 15 points while Stephanie Rogers had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Oilers will host ninth-ranked Ashland University on Saturday at 1 pm in Croy Gymnasium.
