The University of Findlay women's basketball team fell 71-55 to #9 Ashland University on Saturday, January 28 in Croy Gymnasium. The loss gives the Oilers a 12-7 record on the season with a 6-6 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
The Oilers shot 41.1 percent (23-of-56) from the field, but hit only 2-of-18 (11.1%) attempts from three point range. They were also out-rebounded by a 51-31 margin as the Eagles snatched 25 offensive rebounds in the game.
Senior forward Kaitlyn Nelson led the Oilers with 14 points, six rebounds and four blocks while sophomore guard Saira House had ten points.
Red-shirt freshman Carlay Stahl came off the bench to provide nine points while freshman guard Kristin Klausing scored a career-high seven points in the loss.
Alyssa Miller led Ashland with 19 points and eight rebounds while Kari Daugherty had 12 points, 21 rebounds, five steals and four assists.
The Oilers will return to the court again on February 2 when they travel to Houghton, Michigan to face Michigan Technological University at 5:30 p.m.
