Oilers Fall Short on Senior Day, Lose 80-72 to Bulldogs

The University of Findlay women's basketball team lost a hard fought game on Saturday, Feb. 18 against Ferris State University as they fell 80-72 in Croy Gymnasium.  The loss gives the Oilers a 14-11 record on the season with an 8-10 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers took a 68-66 lead with 4:00 minutes remaining when senior forward Kaitlyn Nelson connected on a lay-up.  The final four minutes of the game belonged to the Bulldogs however as they ended the game on a 14-4 run.

Findlay shot 46.8 percent (29-of-62) from the floor and canned 9-of-26 (34.6%) shots from behind the three point line. 

The Bulldogs meanwhile connected on 51.7 percent (30-of-58) of their field goal attempts and splashed 9-of-21 (42.9%) three point attempts.

Senior guard Clare Aubry and junior forward Kayla Brown led the team with 13 points apiece. 

Brown also added four rebounds, three steals and two assists while Nelson finished the game with 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Freshman guard Kristin Klausing and red-shirt freshman forward Carlay Stahl both came off the bench to contribute seven points.

The Oilers will conclude their regular season next Saturday when they travel to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to take on Lake Superior State Universitiy at 1 pm.
