Oilers Ride Big 1st Half to 71-51 Win Over Lakers

The University of Findlay women's basketball team came away with a 71-51 win over Lake Superior State University on Thursday, Nov. 29 in Croy Gymnasium.  The victory gives the Oilers a 3-0 record on the season with a 1-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers built a 37-18 advantage at the break and cruised through the second half to remain undefeated on the year.  They shot 43.4 percent (23-of-53) from the floor and held the Lakers to a mere 33.8 percent (22-of-65) shooting clip.

The Oilers also held a 42-34 advantage on the boards and came away with 13 steals in the win.

Senior forward Kayla Brown led the team with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting.  She also added four rebounds and three steals.

Senior forward Tai Dotson also reached double figures with 11 points to go along with five rebounds while freshman forward Margaret Wuebker and junior forward Kaleigh Kenny contributed nine points apiece.

The Lakers were led by Kandace Crittendon's 17 points.

The Oilers will host Northwood University on Saturday in Croy Gymnasium.  The game is scheduled to tip at 3 p.m.
