The University of Findlay women's basketball captured a 70-61 win over Saginaw Valley State University on Thursday, Jan. 3 in University Center, Mich.
The Oilers, who improved to 8-3 on the year with a 5-2 record in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play, shot 49.1 percent (27-of-55) from the floor and held a 30-10 advantage in points off of turnovers.
Senior forward Kayla Brown led the Oilers with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting while sophomore forward Lacey Kessler contributed a season-high 16 points and four assists off the bench, helping the Oilers reserve players out-score the Cardinals by a 33-14 margin.
Senior forward Tai Dotson also had a stellar game for the Oilers as she recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and block.
Senior guard Kendra Elam and junior forward Kaleigh Kenny added seven points apiece for the Oilers as well in the win.
The Cardinals were led by Emily Wendling's 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday when they face Wayne State University at 3 p.m. in Detroit, Mich.
