Oilers Back at Home Against Panthers and Dragons
The Oilers women's basketball team will be at home for two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) games this week as they host Ohio Dominican University and Tiffin University. The Oilers and Panthers will take the floor on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. contest against the Dragons on Saturday, Jan. 12.

The Series
The Oilers hold a 12-2 advantage in the all-time series against Ohio Dominican dating back to the 1991-92 campaign when the Panthers claimed a 77-69 victory over Findlay in the NAIA District 22 playoffs.
The Oilers swept the season series against Ohio Dominican last year as they were victorious by a score of 78-56 at home before winning 85-64 on the road.
In the home win, Kayla Brown scored 16 points and Clare Aubry added 15.
In the road victory, Lacey Kessler came off the bench to score 23 points, hitting all 11 of her shots from the free throw line.
Brown added another 16-point performance while Carlay Stahl recorded 14 points and four boards.
The Oilers hold a commanding 36-8 advantage in the all-time series against the Dragons dating back to the 1984-85 campaign when Findlay was victorious by a score of 77-36.
The Dragons swept the Oilers last season, winning 74-65 in Findlay and 66-51 in Tiffin.
In the Oilers loss at home, Stahl led the team with 12 points while Karli Beasley had 11 points and nine rebounds.
Aubry and Brown each reached double figures as well with ten points apiece.
In the loss at Tiffin, Brown had 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the team.
Kessler chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds as the Oilers shot only 27.7 percent (18-of-65) from the floor.
The University of Findlay
The University of Findlay women's basketball team held on for a 90-84 win over Wayne State University in overtime on Saturday, Jan. 5 in Detroit, Mich.
Findlay held a 75-73 lead late in the second half, but Wayne State's Talisha Bridges hit a running one-handed jumper with five seconds left to send the game into overtime. The Oilers then built a cushion during the overtime period and claimed a tough road victory.
The Oilers shot 41.9 percent (26-of-62) from the floor and made 34-of-51 (66.7%) shot attempts from the free throw line in the win.
Kayla Brown led the way with 25 points on 7-of-17 shooting. Brown also hit 10-of-11 attempts from the free throw line and is now 15 points shy of reaching the 1,000-point plateau for her career.
Tai Dotson added a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds while Lacey Kessler continued her strong play with 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals off the bench.
Kendra Elam also reached double figures with ten points in the victory.

Ohio Dominican University
The Panthers are currently 4-7 on the year with a 1-7 record in GLIAC play. Kacee Hockenberry leads the team with a 13.9 points per game average while Katelyn Stuckey is clicking for 13.0 points every contest.

The Dragons are off to a 6-6 start with a 3-5 record in conference play. Jessica Harris is leading the team with averages of 10.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.

Lighting Up the Scoreboard
Senior forward Kayla Brown has been scoring in bunches this season, averaging 19.6 points per game. Her points per game average is the third best in the GLIAC and is enabling Findlay to average 74.0 points per outing, the second best mark in the league.
Nationally, Brown ranks 18th in points per game average.
Grand Theft
The Oilers are averaging 13.0 steals per game, the second best total in the GLIAC and the 22nd best mark in the nation.
Individually, senior forward Kayla Brown ranks first in the GLIAC with 3.1 steals per game while junior guard Karli Beasley is 12th with 1.8 steals per contest.
Forcing Turnovers
The Oilers are forcing 24.1 turnovers per game, the best total in the GLIAC.

Senior forward Kayla Brown ranks second in the conference in three point shooting, making 2.3 per game. She has connected on 37.8 percent (28-of-74) of her attempts thus far.
Freshman guard Alyssa Grevenkamp leads the conference in three point shooting percentage as she is hitting 52.4 percent of her three point tries.
The Oilers are hitting 33.2 percent of their triple tries this season, the third best mark in the league.

The Oilers rank third in the GLIAC in field goal percentage, hitting 42.3 percent of their attempts.
Individually, senior forward Kayla Brown ranks tenth with a 52.0 percent shooting clip.

The Oilers are hitting 71.9 percent of their free throw attempts on the season, the seventh best mark in the GLIAC.
Individually, junior guard Ashley Andrews ranks 14th with an 81.1 percent shooting clip from the line.

1,000-Point Club
Senior forward Kayla Brown will look to become the 19th member of the Oilers 1,000-point club this year.
Brown has scored 985 points during her career and has also added 363 rebounds and 157 steals during her tenure with the program.
Teammate Laura Piehl was the last Oilers player to crack the 1,000-point plateau and has currently racked up 1,270 career points, which ranks seventh all-time at Findlay.
Piehl has also recorded 447 rebounds, 273 assists and 117 steals during her time with the Oilers.
Reaching the 90-Point Plateau
The Oilers have scored 90 or more points 63 times since the 1978-79 season and sport a 62-1 (.984) record in those games.
Their only loss came at the hands of Wilmington, who defeated the Oilers by a score of 110-98 in 1985.
Preseason GLIAC Poll
The University of Findlay women's basketball team was picked to finish third in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division as the league office announced their annual preseason poll on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
The Oilers, who finished last season with a 15-12 record, received 121 votes in the poll and trailed Tiffin University (140) and Ashland University (184) in the South Division. The Eagles received all 23 first place votes in the poll, which was based on votes by members of the media.
Ferris State University was tabbed as the favorite to win the North Division after receiving 15 first place votes and a total of 174 votes overall.
Preseason All-GLIAC
Senior forward Kayla Brown was honored as a preseason first team all-conference pick.
Brown earned second team honors last year as a junior after averaging a team-high 12.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. She also recorded 2.2 steals per game and drained 46 three pointers.
Brown has scored 754 points during her career and has added 317 rebounds. She will look to become the Oilers 19th member of the 1,000-point club in her final year with the program.
Winning GLIAC South Division Titles
The Oilers have won two out the last three GLIAC South Division titles (2009-10, 2010-11) and as a program, have captured championships in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2010 and 2011.
GLIAC Tournament
The Oilers have appeared in the GLIAC Tournament four times in their history. During the 2009-10 campaign, the Oilers won a GLIAC Tournament game for the first time in school history, defeating Hillsdale College 66-62 to advance to the second round.
