Oilers Ride Defense to 58-45 Win Over Panthers

The University of Findlay women's basketball team improved to 16-4 on the season with a 58-45 win over Ohio Dominican University on Saturday, Feb. 7 in Columbus, Ohio.

The Oilers, who are now 13-3 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), forced the Panthers into 25 turnovers and came away with 13 steals in the win.

Senior forward Kayla Brown was the lone Oilers player in double figures with ten points as 11 players scored in the game. 

Freshman forward Kelsey Lewis added eight points while sophomore guard Kristin Klausing and sophomore forward Lacey Kessler had seven points apiece.

Junior guard Ashley Andrews and senior guard Laura Piehl each contributed five points.  Piehl also added six rebounds and two steals in 16 minutes of action off the bench.

As a team the Oilers shot 42 percent (21-of-50) from the floor while the Panthers connected on 41.7 percent (15-of-36) of their shot attempts in the game.

Katelyn Stuckey led Ohio Dominican with 14 points and seven rebounds while Kacee Hockenberry scored 12.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday when they travel to Tiffin, Ohio to take on Tiffin University at 3 p.m.
