Oilers Bench Plays Key Role in Win Over Dragons

The University of Findlay women's basketball team won their sixth straight game with a 62-44 victory over Tiffin University on Saturday, Feb. 9 in Tiffin, Ohio.  The win gives the Oilers a 17-4 record on the season with a 14-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers shot 36.4 percent (20-of-55) from the floor and forced 23 turnovers in the game.  The Oilers bench also played a key role in the victory as they accumulated 34 of the Oilers 62 points.

Senior forward Kayla Brown led the charge with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting. 

Junior guard Karli Beasley led the Oilers bench output with ten points and three rebounds.  Sophomore forward Lacey Kessler added eight points and three boards while junior center Andrea Kras had a career-high eight points in ten minutes of action.

Senior guard Laura Piehl also played well for Findlay off the pine, scoring seven points on 2-of-5 shooting.

The Dragons connected on only 31.9 percent (15-of-47) of their shots and were led by Jessica Harris and Stephanie Kelly, who each scored eight points in the game.

The Oilers will return home to face #1 Ashland University on Thursday, Feb. 14.  The Oilers and the top-ranked Eagles will tip at 8 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
