#25 Oilers Rout Walsh, Win 95-72

The University of Findlay women's basketball team, ranked 25th in the nation, came away with a 95-72 win over Walsh University on Thursday, Feb. 21 in Croy Gymnasium.  The victory gives the Oilers a 20-4 record on the season with a 17-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers raced out to a 45-22 lead at the break and then played even throughout the second half to secure their ninth straight win.  They shot 51.5 percent (34-of-66) from the floor and forced 28 turnovers, which led to 23 steals.  Findlay scored 34 points off of those turnovers and held a 24-12 edge in fast break points.

Senior forward Kayla Brown led the way with 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting while freshman forward Margaret Wuebker registered a career-high 16 points and six steals in only 18 minutes of action.

Senior forward Tai Dotson added 12 points and seven boards while junior guard Karli Beasley came off the bench to stuff the stat sheet with a career-high tying 12 points, six assists and four rebounds.

Senior guard Kendra Elam recorded ten points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals while senior guard Laura Piehl chipped in seven points, four rebounds and four steals as well for Findlay.

The Cavaliers shot 49.1 percent (26-of-53) from the floor and were led by Tracy Payne, who scored a game-high 26 points.

The Oilers will travel to Canton, Ohio on Saturday to play Malone University at 3 p.m.
