Women's Basketball Remains 2nd in Midwest Region

The University of Findlay women's basketball is ranked second in the second installment of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings, which were released on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

The top eight teams in the region will qualify for the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional, which is slated for March 15-18.  The top team in the rankings at the end of the season will earn the right to host the first three rounds of the NCAA Division II Tournament.  The Elite 8, Final 4 and National Championship will then be held on March 26-29 in San Antonio, Texas.

The Oilers, who are ranked 19th in the nation, qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2010 for the first time in school history and are looking to make a return trip to the event.  They went 1-1 during the tournament in 2010 and finished the season with an overall record of 22-9.

Findlay is one of five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams in the rankings this week.

The Oilers will be at home to close out the regular season on Saturday when they host Hillsdale College.  The GLIAC South Division contest is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
