#19 Oilers Advance in Tourney, Take Down Cardinals 69-57

The University of Findlay women's basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament for the second time in school history with a 69-57 win over Saginaw Valley State University on March 6 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers, ranked 19th in the nation, shot 50 percent (26-of-52) from the floor and drilled 7-of-16 (43.8%) shot attempts from behind the three point line.

They also held a 32-24 advantage on the boards and racked up 21 assists in the victory.

Senior forward Tai Dotson registered 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting to lead the team while freshman foward Margaret Wuebker and senior guard Kendra Elam scored 12 apiece.

Wuebker added six rebounds and three assists while Elam hit four triples in the game.

Senior guard Laura Piehl chipped in with nine points, six rebounds and four assists while senior forward Kayla Brown had five points, five rebounds and five steals.

The Cardinals were led by Kayla Womack, who scored 15 points off the bench.

The Oilers will now face Wayne State University in the semifinals at 4 p.m. in Ashland, Ohio.
