#19 Oilers to Face Warriors in Semfinals
The Oilers, ranked 19th nationally, will face Wayne State University in the semifinals of the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament. They will play at 4 p.m. on March 9 in Ashland, Ohio.

The Series
The Oilers hold an 18-15 advantage in the all-time series against Wayne State dating back to the 1990-91 campaign when they came out on the winning end by a score of 57-48.
Findlay secured a 90-84 win over the Warriors in overtime on Jan. 5 in Detroit, Mich. behind 25 points from Kayla Brown.
Brown hit 7-of-17 shot attempts and also hit 10-of-11 attempts from the free throw line in the game.
Tai Dotson added a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds while Lacey Kessler contributed 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals off the bench.
Kendra Elam also reached double figures with ten points in the victory.
The Warriors, who held a 58-42 advantage on the boards, were led by Talisha Bridges' 25 points.
The University of Findlay
The University of Findlay women's basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament for the second time in school history with a 69-57 win over Saginaw Valley State University on March 6 in Croy Gymnasium.
The Oilers, ranked 19th in the nation, shot 50 percent (26-of-52) from the floor and drilled 7-of-16 (43.8%) shot attempts from behind the three point line.
They also held a 32-24 advantage on the boards and racked up 21 assists in the victory.
Tai Dotson registered 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting to lead the team while Margaret Wuebker and Kendra Elam scored 12 apiece.
Wuebker added six rebounds and three assists while Elam hit four triples in the game.
Laura Piehl chipped in with nine points, six rebounds and four assists while Kayla Brown had five points, five rebounds and five steals.

Wayne State University
The Warriors are 20-7 on the year and have been led by Talisha Bridges, who is averaging 15.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
Juanita Cochran is a force in the paint as well with averages of 10.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.

1,000-Point Club
Senior forward Kayla Brown became the 19th member of the Oilers 1,000-point club in the Oilers 67-37 win over Ohio Dominican on Jan. 10 in Croy Gymnasium.
Brown currently ranks tenth all-time with 1,229 career points and has also added 411 rebounds and 191 steals during her tenure with the program.
Brown is currently chasing Julie Flowers, who scored 1,239 points from 1986-89, for ninth place on the scoring list.
Teammate Laura Piehl is also a member of the Oilers 1,000-point club and has racked up 1,348 career points, which ranks fourth all-time at Findlay.
Piehl has also recorded 461 rebounds, 290 assists and 134 steals during her time with the Oilers.
Piehl is chasing Audra Mihalic for third place all-time on the Oilers scoring list. Mihalic racked up 1,398 career points from 2007-10.
Nationally Ranked
The Oilers are ranked 19th in the nation, the third week in a row of being ranked in the top-25. The Oilers have never been ranked at the NCAA Division II level until this season.
In the Zone
Senior forward Kayla Brown was on fire during the Oilers 73-61 win over Hillsdale College on March 2 in Croy Gymnasium, putting up a career-high 35 points on 12-of-18 shooting.
Brown's 35 points were the third highest total a player has scored in a game at Findlay. Mianda Watts also accomplished the feat in a 92-81 win over Oklahoma Christian on March 17, 2000.
Her six three pointers fell one triple short of tying the record for most made three pointers in a game as well.
Streaking
The Oilers have won 12 straight games, their longest winning streak since the 1999-2000 campaign when they rattled off 12 straight victories.
Lighting Up the Scoreboard
Senior forward Kayla Brown has been scoring in bunches this season, averaging 17.6 points per game. Her points per game average is the fourth best in the GLIAC and is enabling Findlay to average 70.9 points per outing, the second best mark in the league.
Brown has racked up 475 points this year, the sixth best single season mark in the history of the program. She trails Nicole Clever, who scored 476 points during the 1994-95 campaign, for fifth place in the record book.
Grand Theft
The Oilers are averaging 13.0 steals per game, the best total in the GLIAC and the 11th best mark in the nation.
Individually, senior forward Kayla Brown leads the GLIAC with 2.6 steals per game while junior guard Ashley Andrews is 18th with 1.6 steals per contest.
Forcing Turnovers
The Oilers are forcing 23.5 turnovers per game, the best total in the GLIAC. They also have a +5.5 advantage in turnover margin, the 16th best mark in the nation.
Triple Your Pleasure
Senior forward Kayla Brown ranks third in the conference in three point shooting, making 2.1 per game. She has connected on 36.9 percent (58-of-157) of her attempts thus far, which ranks 13th in the GLIAC.
The Oilers have also splashed down 158 triples on the year, which ranks third in the GLIAC.
Shooting Range
The Oilers rank second in the GLIAC in field goal percentage, hitting 42.5 percent of their attempts.
Senior forwards Tai Dotson (55.0%) and Kayla Brown (51.9%) rank third and sixth, respectively, in the GLIAC.
Freebies
The Oilers have made 457 free throws this season, the second best mark in the GLIAC.
Dropping Dimes
The Oilers rank second in the GLIAC in assists per game with 14.8 per game.
Defense Wins Championships
The Oilers are ranked third in the GLIAC in points allowed, surrendering only 58.0 points per game to their opposition.
Moving on Up
Senior forward Kayla Brown has drained 132 three pointers in her career, the fifth best total ever at Findlay. She is currently chasing Tiffany Stewart for fourth place, who drained 142 triples from 2000-03.
The Mt. Blanchard, Ohio native is also ranked fifth all-time in career three point attempts with 359. She trails Stewart for fourth place, who attempted 384 triples.
The Great Heist
Senior forward Kayla Brown ranks sixth all-time at Findlay in steals with 191. She trails Nicole Clever in the all-time rankings, who came away with 203 steals from 1993-95.
GLIAC Tournament
The Oilers have appeared in the GLIAC Tournament five times in their history. They sport a 2-4 record in tournament play.
Stealing Records
The Oilers set a new school record with 28 steals in their 67-37 win over Ohio Dominican on Jan. 10. The previous record of 27 was set in a 75-57 victory over Walsh on Jan. 5, 1995.
GLIAC South Division Player of the Week
Senior forward Kayla Brown has been named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week twice this season. She earned the honor on Feb. 4 and again on March 4.
Brown received the honor on Feb. 4 after leading the Oilers to a 76-70 win at Hillsdale on Feb. 2 with 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting. The Mt. Blanchard, Ohio native canned 4-of-9 three point attempts and also added four rebounds and a pair of steals.
She then captured the award on March 4 after posting 35 points on 12-of-18 shooting in a 73-61 win over Hillsdale at home. Brown drilled six three pointers in the win and her 35 points were the third highest single game total by an Oilers player in a contest.
Reaching the 90-Point Plateau
The Oilers have scored 90 or more points 64 times since the 1978-79 season and sport a 63-1 (.984) record in those games.
Their only loss came at the hands of Wilmington, who defeated the Oilers by a score of 110-98 in 1985.
Preseason GLIAC Poll
The University of Findlay women's basketball team was picked to finish third in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division as the league office announced their annual preseason poll on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
The Oilers, who finished last season with a 15-12 record, received 121 votes in the poll and trailed Tiffin University (140) and Ashland University (184) in the South Division. The Eagles received all 23 first place votes in the poll, which was based on votes by members of the media.
Ferris State University was tabbed as the favorite to win the North Division after receiving 15 first place votes and a total of 174 votes overall.
Preseason All-GLIAC
Senior forward Kayla Brown was honored as a preseason first team all-conference pick.
Brown earned second team honors last year as a junior after averaging a team-high 12.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. She also recorded 2.2 steals per game and drained 46 three pointers.
Winning GLIAC South Division Titles
The Oilers have won two out the last four GLIAC South Division titles (2009-10, 2010-11) and as a program, have captured championships in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2010 and 2011.
