#19 Oilers Knock Off Wayne State 67-60, Advance To Finals

The University of Findlay women's basketball team advanced to the finals of the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament as they knocked off Wayne State 67-60 on Saturday, March 9 in Ashland.

Findlay, ranked 19th in the nation, only shot 36.8 percent (21-of-57) from the floor, but hit 8-of-19 (42.1%) shot attempts from behind the arc. In addition, they made 17-of-23 (73.9%) shots at the charity stripe.

The Oilers forced 26 turnovers snatching 14 steals in the contest, but lost the battle of the boards 44-33.

First team all-GLIAC performer Kayla Brown ignited the Oiler offense with 23 points, including five triples.  She also added two steals.

Karli Beasley added 12 points for Findlay while Ashley Andrews chipped in with eight. Kristin Klausing dished a team-high six assists and generated five steals.

Both Kendra Elam and Laura Piehl grabbed four off of the glass as Tai Dotson had six points and swatted two Warrior shots.

Juanita Cochren led the Warriors with 20 points and five blocks.

The Oilers will now face #2 Ashland University in the GLIAC Championship at 3 p.m. in Ashland, Ohio tomorrow.
