#2 Eagles Defeat #19 Oilers in Championship Game

The University of Findlay women's basketball team fell 68-49 to #2 Ashland University in the finals of the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on March 10 in Ashland, Ohio.

The Oilers, ranked 19th in the nation, fell behind by a score of 40-26 at the half and could never recover.  They shot 30.6 percent (15-of-49) while the Eagles hit on 40.7 percent of their shots. 

Senior forward Kayla Brown scored 13 points and added four steals in the win.  She was named to the all-tournament team as well.

Junior guard Ashley Andrews and senior guard Kendra Elam each scored nine points while freshman forward Margaret Wuebker had eight points and nine rebounds.

Daiva Gerbec led the Eagles with 18 points and ten boards while Kari Daugherty, the 2013 GLIAC Player of the Year, had 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Taylor Woods contributed 11 points and ten assists while Lindsay Tenyak had 11 points too.

The Oilers, who are 24-5 on the season, will now wait until 10 p.m. tonight to find out their opponent in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.  The Oilers opponent and location of the game will be determined tonight during the NCAA Selection Show, scheduled to air on NCAA.com around 10:30 p.m.
