Young Harris Tops Oilers in the Bahamas

The University of Findlay women's basketball team dropped a 73-66 decision to Young Harris on Saturday, Dec. 21 in Nassau, Bahamas to give them a 5-3 record on the season.

The Oilers held a 40-37 lead at the break, but managed only 26 points in the second half as Young Harris pulled away.

Findlay shot 47.1 percent (24-of-51) from the floor, but were out-rebounded by a 42-36 margin as they gave up 15 offensive rebounds.  The Oilers also had 19 turnovers and hit only 50 percent (11-of-22) of their shot attempts from the free throw line in the loss.

Junior forward Lacey Kessler came off the bench to lead the Oilers with 17 points and five rebounds.

Freshman guard Karli Bonar hit four three pointers en route to 12 points while senior guard Karli Beasley and sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker had 11 points apiece in the game.

Ladondra Johnson led Young Harris with 29 points and ten rebounds. 

The Oilers will be back in action again on Jan. 2 when they travel to Big Rapids, Mich. to take on Ferris State at 6 p.m.
