Women's Basketball to Battle FSU/GVSU
The University of Findlay women's basketball team will hit the road to take on Ferris State and Grand Valley State this week. The Oilers will play the Bulldogs at 6 p.m. on Jan. 2 and then face the Lakers at 1 p.m. on Jan. 4.

Series Information
The Oilers and Bulldogs are currently trail 10-9 in the all-time series against Ferris State dating back to the 1997-98 campaign when Findlay won by a score of 66-59.
The Bulldogs came away with a 68-66 win over the Oilers last year in Croy Gymnasium as Findlay shot only 35.8 percent from the floor.
Kayla Brown led the Oilers with 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals while Kendra Elam and Alyssa Grevenkamp chipped in 12 points apiece.
The Oilers trail in the all-time series against Grand Valley State by a 12-6 margin dating back to the 1997-98 campaign when the Lakers came out on top by a score of 68-52.
Findlay earned a 61-53 win over Grand Valley State last year in Croy Gymnasium behind 19 points and seven rebounds by Tai Dotson.
Kayla Brown added 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals while Margaret Wuebker had six points and four boards in the win.
Findlay
The University of Findlay women's basketball team dropped a 73-66 decision to Young Harris on Saturday, Dec. 21 in Nassau, Bahamas to give them a 5-3 record on the season.
The Oilers held a 40-37 lead at the break, but managed only 26 points in the second half as Young Harris pulled away.
Findlay shot 47.1 percent (24-of-51) from the floor, but were out-rebounded by a 42-36 margin as they gave up 15 offensive rebounds. The Oilers also had 19 turnovers and hit only 50 percent (11-of-22) of their shot attempts from the free throw line in the loss.
Lacey Kessler came off the bench to lead the Oilers with 17 points and five rebounds.
Karli Bonar hit four three pointers en route to 12 points while Karli Beasley and Margaret Wuebker had 11 points apiece in the game.

Ferris State
The Bulldogs are 2-4 on the season with a 2-2 record in conference play. They are led by Sarah DeShone, who is averaging 20.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
Dena Droste is also off to a good start for Ferris State and is averaging 12.5 points per game.

The Lakers sport a 5-3 record on the year with a 3-1 mark in conference competition. They are led by Baily Carinduff, who is averaging 11.3 points per game.
Dani Cairnduff is scoring 11.0 points per game and grabbing 5.4 rebounds per contest while Piper Tucker is chipping in 9.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per outing.

The Oilers are averaging 11.5 steals per game this season, the second best mark in the GLIAC and the 14th highest total in the nation. They also are ranked second in the league by forcing their opponent into 20.5 turnovers per contest.
Individually, senior guard Ashley Andrews leads the team and ranks sixth in the GLIAC with a 2.0 steals per game average.
Junior forward Lacey Kessler ranks tenth in the league with 1.9 steals per contest while senior guard Karli Beasley checks in 11th with a 1.8 steals per game average on the year.
Making Shots
The Oilers are shooting 43.0 percent from the field this season, the sixth best mark in the GLIAC. They are led by sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker, who ranks eighth in the league with a 52.3 percent shooting clip.
Junior forward Lacey Kessler is right behind Wuebker and ranks ninth with a shooting percentage of 52.0.
Freebies
Junior forward Lacey Kessler has been doing a lot of damage from the free throw line this season, making 5.3 shot attempts from the charity stripe per game. Her total makes per contest is the third highest total in the GLIAC. Kessler is also shooting 84.1 percent from the line this year, the 13th best mark in the league.
As a team, the Oilers are canning 75.4 percent of their shots from the charity stripe, the fifth best mark in the GLIAC.
Raining 3's
The Oilers are shooting 34.4 percent from behind the three point line this season, the sixth best shooting clip in the GLIAC. They are also connecting on 7.9 three pointers per game, which is the second highest mark in the conference.
Freshman guard Karli Bonar is connecting on 2.6 triple tries per game this year, which ranks third in the GLIAC. Her 40.4 percent shooting clip from long range is the 12th highest mark in the conference.
Bonar set Ohio state records for most three pointers made in a season (110) and most made triples in a career (350) during her time at Shadyside High School.
In the Oilers 87-54 win over Northwestern Ohio on Nov. 30, the Oilers canned a season-high 15 three pointers and attempted a school record 42 triple tries.
Efficient Scoring
Junior forward Lacey Kessler is making the most of her playing time this season and is averaging 13.4 points per game in only 17.1 minutes per contest. Her scoring average is the 19th best mark in the league.
Lighting Up the Scoreboard
Findlay is averaging 74.0 points per game on the year, the seventh best total in the GLIAC.
Passing the Rock
The Oilers are ranked seventh in the conference in assists per game with 14.4 per contest. Senior guard Ashley Andrews leads the squad and is averaging 2.6 assists per game while junior guard Kristin Klausing is dishing out 2.5 assists per contest.
Swatting Shots
Sophomore forward Kelsey Lewis ranks seventh in the league in blocked shots per game, swatting an average of 1.1 per contest.
Getting Buckets
Junior guard Ciara Geiger has proven she has the ability to fill up the basket. Geiger is in her first season with the Oilers after transferring from Urbana University, where she scored 995 points in her first two collegiate seasons. The Ft. Wayne, Ind. native has now racked up 1,032 career points in her collegiate career.
Reaching the 90-Point Plateau
The Oilers have scored 90 or more points 64 times since the 1978-79 season and sport a 63-1 (.984) record in those games. Their only loss came at the hands of Wilmington, who defeated the Oilers by a score of 110-98 in 1985.
GLIAC Tournament
The Oilers have appeared in the GLIAC Tournament five times in their history. They sport a 3-5 record in tournament play.
Winning GLIAC South Division Titles
The Oilers have won two out the last four GLIAC South Division titles (2009-10, 2010-11) and as a program, have captured championships in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2010 and 2011.
Preseason GLIAC Poll
The Oilers were picked to finish second in the South Division of the GLIAC this season according to the annual preseason poll, which was released on Nov. 7.
The Oilers received a total of 177 votes and ten first place votes in the poll. They fell one vote shy of the top spot in the division, which is held by Ashland University with 178 votes. The Eagles also received 13 first place votes and are the defending NCAA Division II National Champions.
Findlay finished the 2012-13 campaign with a 24-6 record. They were ranked 20th in the nation in the final poll and reached the NCAA Division II National Tournament for only the second time in school history.
Preseason All-GLIAC
Junior guard Ciara Geiger, a transfer from Urbana University, and sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker each were honored on the preseason all-conference squads. Geiger was voted first team all-conference while Wuebker earned a spot on the second team.
Geiger earned all-region honors last year for the Blue Knights after averaging 18.4 points per game. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year racked up a total of 995 points during her two years with Urbana and will be counted on to provide offensive firepower for the Oilers this season.
Wuebker made 26 starts for the Oilers last season as a true freshman, averaging 5.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
