Oilers Snap 3-Game Skid with 66-56 Win

The University of Findlay women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 66-56 win over Saginaw Valley State University on Thursday, Jan. 9 in Croy Gymnasium.  The win gives the Oilers a 6-5 record on the season with a 3-4 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers forced 30 Cardinal turnovers and came away with 18 steals in the game.  The turnovers led to Findlay having a 33-3 advantage in points off of turnovers, which was the deciding factor in the game.

Findlay shot 40 percent (24-of-60) from the floor while the Cardinals connected on 42.6 percent (20-of-47) of their attempts.

Sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker led the team with 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists while freshman guard Karli Bonar contributed ten points and three steals.

Junior guard Ciara Geiger contributed nine points off the bench while junior forward Lacey Kessler stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, four steals, three assists and two rebounds in only 12 minutes of action.

Senior guard Karli Beasley only scored four points, but tied her career-high with six assists and also chipped in four rebounds and three steals in the victory.

Kristen Greene led the Cardinals with 17 points and 15 rebounds.

The Oilers will be back at it again on Saturday when they host Wayne State University at 1 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
