Panthers Top Oilers in Overtime

The University of Findlay women's basketball team fell 79-72 in overtime against Ohio Dominican University on Thursday, Jan. 16 in Columbus, Ohio.

The Oilers, who fell to 6-7 on the year with a 3-6 record in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play, shot only 32.0 percent (24-of-75) from the floor and were out-rebounded by a 56-31 margin.  The team did force 28 turnovers and recorded 19 steals in the loss.

Junior guard Ciara Geiger had her best game in a Findlay uniform, hitting 9-of-14 shot attempts en route to a team-high 27 points.  She also added four rebounds, three steals and two assists in the game.

Sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker and freshman guard Karli Bonar also reached double figures in the loss, contributing 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Junior guard Nikki Gunning and junior forward Lacey Kessler added seven points apiece while senior guard Ashley Andrews registered a career-high eight steals.

The Panthers, who shot 46.2 percent (24-of-52) from the floor, were led by Kacee Hockenberry's 29 points.

The Oilers will face Tiffin University in their next contest, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Tiffin, Ohio.
