Findlay Rolls Past Lake Erie College

The University of Findlay women's basketball team claimed a 73-60 win over Lake Erie College on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Croy Gymnasium to even their record at 8-8 on the season.

The Oilers, who moved to 5-7 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play with the victory, shot 43.6 percent (24-of-55) from the floor and grabbed a season-high 46 rebounds in the game.  They snatched 16 offensive boards, forced the Storm into 20 turnovers and also came away with 11 steals.

The Storm meanwhile hit on only 32.8 percent (20-of-61) of their shot attempts in the game, making 9-of-26 (34.6%) three point tries.

Sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker led the Oilers with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  She hit 7-of-8 attempts from the field and also added three blocks, one steal and one assists in the win.

Junior forward Lacey Kessler came off the bench to provide 13 points and six rebounds while junior guard Nikki Gunning registered 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting off the pine as well.

Junior guard Ciara Geiger had six points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals while freshman guard Karli Bonar contributed five points and eight boards.

Jackie Murray led the Storm with 15 points.

The Oilers will be back at home next week to host Walsh University on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
