Oilers Prepare to Face Walsh, Malone and Hillsdale
The University of Findlay women's basketball team will have three games in five days against Walsh University, Malone University and Hillsdale College. The Oilers will be at home on Jan. 30 to take on Walsh at 6 p.m. before hitting the road to take on Malone at 1 p.m. on Feb. 1. They will then return home to face Hillsdale on Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.

Series Information
The Oilers hold an 11-2 advantage in the all-time series against the Cavaliers dating back to the 1983-84 season when Findlay came away with a 69-66 win in the NAIA District 22 playoffs.
The Oilers defeated the Cavaliers by a score of 68-64 on the road last year before claiming a 95-72 win at home.
Tai Dotson poured in 20 points on 10-of-11 shooting to lead the Oilers in their road win while Kayla Brown contributed 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Kaleigh Kenny also had a great game, scoring 12 points and adding eight rebounds off the bench for Findlay.
Kayla Brown led the Oilers in their home win over Walsh with 21 points as Findlay shot 51.5 percent (34-of-66) from the floor.
Margaret Wuebker posted 16 points and six steals in only 18 minutes of action while Tai Dotson had 12 points and seven rebounds.
Karli Beasley came off the bench to stuff the stat sheet with a career-high tying 12 points, six assists and four rebounds as well for the Oilers.
The Oilers have never lost to Malone as they sport a 19-0 record against the Pioneers dating back to the 1991-92 campaign when Findlay won by a score of 77-43.
They won by a score of 67-55 at home and then claimed a 62-51 victory at Malone later in the season.
In their win at home, Kayla Brown had 14 points and six steals while Karli Beasley, Tai Dotson and Kaleigh Kenny each contributed eight points apiece.
The Oilers shot 51.1 percent (23-of-45) from the field in their road win against Malone and received 21 points from Kayla Brown. She also added six rebounds and three steals in the game.
Tai Dotson also reached double figures with 11 points, hitting all five of her field goal attempts, to go along with nine rebounds.
Kendra Elam added nine points, Karli Beasley had seven and Kristin Klausing stuffed the stat sheet with two points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal off the bench.
The Oilers currently trail 18-17 in the all-time series against Hillsdale dating back to the 1985-86 campaign when Findlay came out on top by a score of 74-47.
Findlay won both games against Hillsdale last season, claiming a 76-70 victory on the road and a 73-61 win at home.
Kayla Brown scored 22 points in the Oilers win at Hillsdale while Tai Dotson contributed nine points and nine rebounds.
Kayla Brown led the Oilers in their home win too as she poured in 35 points, which included 29 in the first half. Her 35 points in the win tied Mianda Watts for third place all-time on the single game scoring list at Findlay. Watts put up 35 in a 92-81 win over Oklahoma Christian on March 17, 2000.
Ashley Andrews also reached double figures for Findlay with ten points as the Oilers shot 42.9 percent (21-of-49) from the floor.
Findlay
The Oilers claimed a 73-60 win over Lake Erie College on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Croy Gymnasium to even their record at 8-8 on the season in their last game.
The Oilers shot 43.6 percent (24-of-55) from the floor and grabbed a season-high 46 rebounds in the game. They snatched 16 offensive boards, forced the Storm into 20 turnovers and also came away with 11 steals.
The Storm meanwhile hit on only 32.8 percent (20-of-61) of their shot attempts in the game, making 9-of-26 (34.6%) three point tries.
Margaret Wuebker led the Oilers with 17 points and 11 rebounds. She hit 7-of-8 attempts from the field and also added three blocks, one steal and one assists in the win.
Lacey Kessler came off the bench to provide 13 points and six rebounds while Nikki Gunning registered 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting off the pine as well.
Ciara Geiger had six points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals while Karli Bonar contributed five points and eight boards.

Walsh
The Cavaliers are 6-11 on the season with a 2-9 record in conference play. Kelsey Funderburgh leads the team with averages of 13.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
Tara Gallupe and Jalynn Graham are also scoring in double figures on the year as they are averaging 12.8 and 10.1 points per game, respectively.
Whitney Dabbelt is also having a good season for Walsh and is averaging 7.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

Malone
The Pioneers sport a 13-5 record this season with an 8-4 record in conference play. Malone is currently in first place of the South Division of the GLIAC.
Deborah Simmers leads the team with an average of 13.4 points per game while Selana Reale is scoring 13.1 points per contest.
Sydnee Penn is also averaging in double figures on a nightly basis and checks in with a 10.9 points per game mark.

Hillsdale
The Chargers have a 6-10 record this season, which includes a 5-7 mark in GLIAC play.
Megan Fogt leads the team and has been dominant this year for Hillsdale. On the season, Fogt has registered 18.4 points, 15.9 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 1.9 assists per game.
Marissa DeMott is also having a successful season and is averaging 12.5 points per contest.

Grand Theft
The Oilers are averaging 12.6 steals per game this season, the best mark in the GLIAC and the eighth highest total in the nation. They also are also ranked second in the league by forcing their opponent into 22.5 turnovers per contest.
Individually, senior guard Ashley Andrews is ranked second in the conference in steals per game with 2.3 per contest while junior forward Lacey Kessler checks in tenth with an average of 1.7 steals per game.
Freshman guard Karli Bonar (1.6), senior guard Karli Beasley (1.4), junior guard Ciara Geiger (1.3), junior guard Nikki Gunning (1.1), junior guard Kristin Klausing (1.1) and sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker (1.0) are also averaging at least one steal per contest for the Oilers this season.
Making Shots
Sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker has been shooting the ball well and ranks sixth in the league with a 53.8 percent shooting clip. She is the only Oilers player to have a shooting percentage of over 50 percent on the year.
Balanced Scoring
The Oilers are averaging 71.1 points per game, the eighth best total in the GLIAC. They are doing so with a balanced scoring attack, which features eight players averaging 5.0 points per contest or more.
Sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker leads the team with a scoring average of 13.1 points per game while junior forward Lacey Kessler is providing 10.3 points per contest off the bench for Findlay.
Taking Care of the Ball
The Oilers are only turning the ball over 14.6 times per game, which is the third best mark in the GLIAC and the 33rd best average in the nation.
The Oilers also hold a +7.9 advantage in the turnover column, the best total in the league and the fourth best mark in the nation.
Raining 3's
The Oilers also connecting on 7.3 three pointers per game, which is the second highest mark in the conference. The total is also the 21st highest in the nation.
Freshman guard Karli Bonar is connecting on 2.2 triple tries per game this year, which is the fourth highest total in the GLIAC.
Bonar set Ohio state records for most three pointers made in a season (110) and most made triples in a career (350) during her time at Shadyside High School.
In the Oilers 87-54 win over Northwestern Ohio on Nov. 30, the Oilers canned a season-high 15 three pointers and attempted a school record 42 triple tries.
Swatting Shots
Sophomore forward Kelsey Lewis ranks 13th in the league in blocked shots per game, swatting an average of 0.9 per contest. Teammate Margaret Wuebker, a sophomore forward, is ranked 15th in the GLIAC with an average of 0.8 blocked shots per game as well.
Passing the Rock
The Oilers lead the conference in assists per game with 14.6 per contest. Junior guard Kristin Klausing is dishing out 2.9 assists per contest to lead the team while senior guard Ashley Andrews ranks second on the squad with 2.6 dimes per game.
Getting Buckets
Junior guard Ciara Geiger has proven she has the ability to fill up the basket. Geiger is in her first season with the Oilers after transferring from Urbana University, where she scored 995 points in her first two collegiate seasons. The Ft. Wayne, Ind. native has now racked up 1,126 career points in her collegiate career.
Reaching the 90-Point Plateau
The Oilers have scored 90 or more points 64 times since the 1978-79 season and sport a 63-1 (.984) record in those games. Their only loss came at the hands of Wilmington, who defeated the Oilers by a score of 110-98 in 1985.
GLIAC Tournament
The Oilers have appeared in the GLIAC Tournament five times in their history. They sport a 3-5 record in tournament play.
Winning GLIAC South Division Titles
The Oilers have won two out the last four GLIAC South Division titles (2009-10, 2010-11) and as a program, have captured championships in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2010 and 2011.
Preseason GLIAC Poll
The Oilers were picked to finish second in the South Division of the GLIAC this season according to the annual preseason poll, which was released on Nov. 7.
The Oilers received a total of 177 votes and ten first place votes in the poll. They fell one vote shy of the top spot in the division, which is held by Ashland University with 178 votes. The Eagles also received 13 first place votes and are the defending NCAA Division II National Champions.
Findlay finished the 2012-13 campaign with a 24-6 record. They were ranked 20th in the nation in the final poll and reached the NCAA Division II National Tournament for only the second time in school history.
Preseason All-GLIAC
Junior guard Ciara Geiger, a transfer from Urbana University, and sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker each were honored on the preseason all-conference squads. Geiger was voted first team all-conference while Wuebker earned a spot on the second team.
Geiger earned all-region honors last year for the Blue Knights after averaging 18.4 points per game. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year racked up a total of 995 points during her two years with Urbana and will be counted on to provide offensive firepower for the Oilers this season.
Wuebker made 26 starts for the Oilers last season as a true freshman, averaging 5.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
